Dr. Jeremy Lore is the leader of the Power Exhaust and Particle Control Group in ORNL’s Fusion Energy Division. Jeremy earned his Ph.D. in plasma physics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison (2010), working on the Helically Symmetric eXperiment (HSX) stellarator. He joined ORNL in 2012, after completing a DOE Fusion Energy Sciences Postdoctoral Fellowship focused on three-dimensional transport in tokamaks (2010-2012).
Jeremy’s research is primarily in the area of boundary transport, with a focus on simulation of scrape-off-layer and divertor plasmas. He has led experiments and performed modeling for public and private tokamaks and stellarators worldwide; contributed to the design of divertor components and pumping systems for devices including W7-X, SPARC, DIII-D, and EAST; and led the design of magnets for isotope production. He developed the DIV3D code for optimizing stellarator divertor components, and co-developed the neoclassical transport code PENTA. Jeremy is a member of the American Physical Society, the National Stellarator Coordination Committee, and the divertor and scrape-off-layer Topical Group of the International Tokamak Physics Activity.
