Daniel Felton is an Actinide Chemist in the Materials & Chemistry group where he conducts research on uranium compounds that appear throughout the nuclear fuel cycle. He uses analytical techniques to study the signatures related to the synthesis of uranium compounds as well as to natural mineral species. Daniel also uses spectroscopic techniques along with supervised learning models for use in real-time monitoring of solution chemistry. He is interested in increasing synthesis and analysis throughput using automation and custom analytical software. He is an expert in X-ray diffraction as well as Raman and infrared spectroscopy and is proficient with a variety of other analytical techniques.
