Kyle Schwiebert graduated with a PhD in Mathematics April 2024 from Michigan Technological University. He also holds a dual BS degree in chemical engineering and mathematics and an MS in mathematics from Michigan Tech. His research has focused on the design, numerical analysis, and implementation of novel turbulence models for the time-dependent incompressible Navier-Stokes equations and related issues.
At ORNL, Kyle is working on the theory and implementation of numerical methods for kinetic equations applied to rarified gas flow. This includes a review of existing models and numerical methods for chemically reacting, multispecies, and polyatomic gases. Additionally, Kyle is a part of a team developing a kinetic gas solver for unstructured 3D meshes.
