Dr. Anis M. Khokon is a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Integrative Microbiomics Group within the Biosciences Division at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL). His research examines how plant-associated microorganisms influence plant productivity, drought resilience, microbial functional potential, and soil carbon cycling under changing climate conditions.
He integrates microbial ecology, plant phenotyping, and multi-omics approaches including amplicon sequencing, metagenomics, metatranscriptomics, and metabolomics with high-performance computing, statistical modeling, and machine learning. His work aims to connect microbiome functions with plant performance and ecosystem processes to improve predictions of drought resilience and carbon cycling in DOE-relevant bioenergy systems.
He contributes to several ORNL research initiatives, including:
