Shuntaro Inoue is an R&D staff member in power electronics at Oak Ridge National Laboratory and a University of Tennessee–Oak Ridge Innovation Institute Fellow affiliated with the Transportation Convergent Research Initiative. His research focuses on advanced power electronics, dynamic wireless power transfer, high-power-density converters, and AI-enabled design optimization for transportation electrification and grid-integrated energy systems.
Before joining ORNL, Dr. Inoue was a Senior Research Engineer at Toyota Central R&D Labs., Inc., where he led research on dynamic wireless power transfer and automotive power conversion technologies. His work includes 50 kW and 20 kW dynamic wireless power transfer systems, high-power-density DC-DC and AC-DC converters, integrated magnetic components, and experimentally validated power electronics hardware.
Dr. Inoue has published more than 15 peer-reviewed papers and holds more than ten U.S. patents. He is a Senior Member of IEEE and has received multiple awards from IEEE, the Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan, the Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers, and Toyota Central R&D Labs.
