    Quantum Computing User Forum highlights advances in quantum research

    ORNL’s seventh annual Quantum Computing User Forum brought together 184 researchers, developers and industry leaders to showcase advances in quantum applications, software, and hybrid quantum-HPC computing enabled through QCUP. The event also strengthened collaborations across the quantum community and highlighted ORNL’s role in developing the technologies, software ecosystem and workforce needed to make quantum computing a practical tool for scientific discovery.

    Computer engineers at ORNL pioneer approaches to energy efficient supercomputing

    As high-tech companies ramp up construction of massive data centers to meet the business boom in artificial intelligence, one component is becoming an increasingly rare commodity: electricity. Since its formation in 2004, the OLCF has fielded five generations of world-class supercomputing systems that have produced a nearly 2,000 times reduction in energy usage per floating point operation per second, or flops.     DOE, ORNL announce opportunity to define future of High-Performance Computing
