Gamma and Neutron Measurement and Modeling of Irradiated TRISO Fuel
Given the unique characteristics of the PBR fuel cycle, both gamma and neutron measurements are expected to play important roles in performing and maintaining nuclear material control and accounting for spent pebbles to safeguard the fuel cycle. Given the lack of irradiated pebbles in the US, a variety of irradiated TRISO fuel samples with wide ranges of burnups and coolin…

High-Resolution Gamma Spectrometry Data Set for High Burnup Pressurized Water Reactor Used Fuel
Over the past decade, considerable resources have been applied to investigate verification of used nuclear fuel assemblies for international safeguards. The opportunity to expand the available data used to validate these verification techniques was presented in 2016 by the High Burnup Spent Fuel Data Project, which made 25 high-burnup pressurized water reactor used fuel ro…

Advanced Neutron Counting Electronics Designed and Implemented on the JCC-71 Neutron Coincidence Collar to Replace Standard JAB-01 Preamplifier/Amplifier/Discriminator Boards
New in-house neutron counting electronics were designed and built at Oak Ridge National Laboratory to replace the Canberra Industries JAB-01 preamplifier/amplifier/discriminator boards on their JCC-71 Neutron Coincidence Collar model system. The new electronics include a preamplifier and motherboard design, which fit inside the footprint of the existing junction box, as we…

Development and evaluation of a list mode neutron coincidence collar for spatial response measurements of fresh fuel assemblies
The capabilities of current safeguards neutron instrumentation can be expanded by acquiring and analyzing data in new ways. A new List Mode Collar (LMCL) was created by retrofitting a traditional safeguards neutron coincidence counting system, the Neutron Coincidence Collar, with newly developed preamplifiers on each of its 18 3He tubes in active interrogation mode. By app…
