Dr. Rowden is currently the acting group leader for the Grid Systems Hardware group at Oak Ridge National Laboratory with an emphasis on wide-bandgap power electronics packaging and system integrations to support areas of transportation, grid integration, and high voltage dc operations. Additionally, he currently is leading efforts in EV battery recycling and packaging for secondary reuse for grid applications and extreme fast charging. He has an M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from University of Arkansas, and a B.Sc. in Ceramic Materials Engineering from the University of Missouri- Rolla. Dr. Rowden has worked in the microelectronics and thermal management space for 25 years leading new integrations of SiC semiconductors with GE Global Research and Danfoss Silicon Power, advancements in microwave/millimeter wave integrated LTCC-M technologies, and advanced thermal platforms to support two-phase spray cooling for space and military applications. He has 13 patents and many peer-reviewed publications in the materials, thermal, and power electronics areas.
