Dr. Chang Liu is an R&D Associate Staff Scientist in the Surface Chemistry and Catalysis Group within the Chemical Sciences Division. His research focuses on efficient electrochemical energy conversion, well-defined nanostructured materials, and in situ/operando observation of catalytic processes. His core expertise includes precision nanomaterial synthesis, electrocatalysis, and time-resolved monitoring of catalytic reactions. Within the group, Dr. Liu leads efforts in controllable nanomaterial synthesis, high-throughput electrocatalyst screening, AI/ML-assisted materials discovery, and operando characterization of electrochemical processes. His broad research experience is reflected in more than 30 peer-reviewed publications. His additional research interests include electrodialysis, inelastic neutron scattering spectroscopy, neutron imaging, operando electron microscopy, and nanocrystal self-assembly.
