Christopher M. Fancher

Chris Fancher is a senior research staff scientist in the Materials for Advanced Manufacturing group within the Materials Science and Technology Division at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. His research focuses on using X-ray and neutron scattering to investigate how non-equilibrium thermal conditions in metal additive manufacturing influence structure–processing–property relationships. His scientific interests lie at the intersection of advanced characterization techniques and data science. Chris earned his Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from Purdue University. Before joining MSTD, he held postdoctoral research appointments in the Neutron Scattering Sciences Division at ORNL and at North Carolina State University.
