Jong Keum serves as a joint X-Ray/Neutron Scattering Scientist within the Functional Hybrid Nanomaterials Group at the Center for Nanophase Materials Sciences (CNMS) and the Labs & Soft Matter Group at the Neutron Scattering Division (NSD) at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL). He obtained his Ph.D. in Chemistry from the State University of New York (SUNY) at Stony Brook in 2007. Following his doctoral studies, Jong Keum gained five years of postdoctoral experience, initially at the Department of Macromolecular Science and Engineering, Case Western Reserve University, and subsequently at the Spallation Neutron Source (beamline 4B), ORNL. In January 2013, he assumed a joint staff position overseeing the CNMS/SNS X-ray laboratory and has since served as an X-Ray/Neutron Scattering Scientist. He is a co-author on approximately 190 publications in archival refereed journals, two patents, and four book chapters.
Jong’s primary research endeavors focus on comprehending the nano- and mesoscale structure and physics of polymers, soft matters, and nanocomposites. He primarily employs small-angle X-ray and neutron scattering (SAXS/SANS), X-ray and neutron reflectivity (XRR/NR), and X-ray diffraction (XRD) techniques in his investigations.
