Kaz J. Gofron

Kazimierz is developing controls within the DAQ Development group supporting SNS and HFIR User Facility. Kazimierz Gofron joined the Oak Ridge National Laboratory in November 2022 with a Ph.D. degree in Physics from the University of Illinois at Chicago. His 33-year career spans X-ray and neutron facilities and Fortune 100 companies performing science, building beamlines, and developing controls at many User Facilities.

At ORNL, Kaz has been working on the integration of TimePix3 detectors into EPICS neutron data acquisition, and noise mitigation for real-time data transport for HFIR and SNS neutron User Facilities. Kaz specializes in EPICS controls of X-ray and neutron beamline instruments. Scientifically, Kaz has expertise in Photoelectron Spectroscopy, the band structure of HTSC studied by ARPES, beamline instrument design of controls, detectors, and data analysis. Kaz also has a long-standing interest in Computer Vision. Kaz lead synchrotron beamline controls construction from the ground up to a fully operational instrument at NSLS2 and ANL. Kaz has hands-on experience working at Alladin, APS, NSLS, NSLS-2, SNS, and HFIR User Facilities.
