Kunal Mondal

Dr. Kunal Mondal is a nuclear materials scientist in Oak Ridge National Laboratory’s Fusion and Fission Energy and Science Directorate. His research interests include characterization of materials, materials for extreme environments, additive manufacturing, micro/nano fabrication of functional materials, liquid metal, photovoltaics, polymer thin-films, carbon nanomaterials, energy and environmental and health sensors, nuclear sensors. He earned his doctorate in Chemical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology in Kanpur, India. He holds master’s degrees in Materials Engineering and Applied Physics with Nuclear Physics specialization from Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology, and a bachelor’s in physics from University of Burdwan. Before joining ORNL in 2023 he was a Staff Scientist at Idaho National Laboratory (INL).
