Olena Burkovska is a Staff Mathematician in the Multiscale Methods Group at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. Olena’s research interests include mathematical and numerical analysis, model order reduction, optimization, and machine learning. Her research focuses on developing efficient and robust computational methods for tackling multiscale problems, optimization, and surrogate modeling. She has applied her expertise across a diverse range of domains, including materials science, plasma fusion, and quantitative finance.
Olena has joined ORNL as a Householder Fellow in 2019. Prior to that, Olena was a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Florida State University and a visiting researcher at the University of Colorado Boulder. She received her Ph.D. in Mathematics from the Technical University of Munich in 2016.
