Dr. Ruhul Amin – Solid-State Chemist and Materials Scientist
Dr. Ruhul Amin is a Solid-State Chemist and Materials Scientist specializing in advanced energy storage and conversion technologies. His research interests span both the fundamental understanding of electrochemical mechanisms and the translation of this knowledge into commercially viable applications.
His research portfolio is structured around two strategic directions:
- Portable and Long-Duration Energy Storage Systems – including conventional lithium-ion, sodium-ion, and next-generation all-solid-state batteries.
- Energy Conversion Systems – including solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs) and polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cells (PEMFCs).
Currently, Dr. Amin’s work emphasizes the development of advanced electrolyte and electrode materials, interfacial engineering strategies, and optimization of transport properties to enable high-performance batteries capable of operating under extreme environmental conditions.
Current Projects
- Gel polymer-based composite electrolytes for long-duration Zn–air batteries
- Development of saltwater batteries for stationary and marine applications
- Metal–CO₂ battery systems
- Battery design and optimization for eVTOL (electric vertical takeoff and landing) applications
- Development of a Manufacturing Analytics Platform (MAP) for smart battery manufacturing
