Abstract
The report evaluates the impact limiter removal time and motion requirements from transportation casks under the scenario of spent nuclear fuel handling at the Interim Storage Facility (ISF). Cask systems from Orano (formerly AREVA/Transnuclear), NAC International, and Holtec International are taken into account in the study. The SMEs of the vendors developed step-by-step detailed timing estimates which were compared against PNNL baseline data. The goal is to understand procedural variation, identify opportunities for efficiency, and aid in modeling and simulating throughput planning tasks. Physics-based visualization using NVIDIA Isaac Sim is also being explored to visualize the impact limiter removal process.
