Abstract

The AMMT work package for fiscal year 2026 entitled Component Manufacturing and Demonstrations from AM 316 SS includes three activities that showcases qualities of AM 316 SS that are relevant to the domestic nuclear power sector. The design and fabrication of capsules for INL provide a basis for studying the complexities of interaction of AM 316H SS with salt used in molten salt nuclear reactors. Printing compact, high efficiency, defect-free TPMS heat exchangers may enhance the performance of the MARVEL demonstration microreactor. And fabricating AM pre-forms of selected replacement components may shorten the time for repair and maintenance of nuclear reactor subsystems. This report includes details of each of the activities and discusses some opportunities for improvements in component quality and qualification.
